CARITAS New Zealand is working aside NASSA (CARITAS Philippines) to help suffering Filipinos from natural disasters mostly typhoons. This is because Philippines is extremely prone to typhoons which obliterates various houses in the poor citizen's local area.
The most important focus of CARITAS New Zealand is to reprepare first aid kits and essentials for upcoming typhoons which can be then given out to families in drastic need. This action helps Filipinos to become more versatile and bold against these frequent typhoons.
CARITAS also helps Filipinos with climate-resilient farming and fishing activities that will hopefully aid them with the several typhoons occurring a single year. Doing this will excruciatingly help Filipinos to supply themselves more food and water if needed. They have even been invited in a specialised training specifically focusing on their strength against natural disasters which will hopefully help them in the future. This training is currently being effectuated in 9 provinces around the Philippines and will help approximately 1,600 fish and farming families.
A severe past occurrence!
If the past around November 2013, a terrifyingly dangerous typhoon struck central Philippines affecting approximately 13 million people. This is counted as the largest storm in history where it will be forever remembered by all the Filipinos especially those who were affected.
To solve this arduous and drastic conflict, CARITAS Aotearoa and the New Zealand government has greatly supplied essentials costing around 1 million to solve this and create a relief to many affected Filipinos.
