Welcoming The Wakas!

On Wednesday we went to Pt. England Beach to welcome the visitors from Hawaii. The whole of St. Patrick’s School went there. It was a very sunny day. 11 schools were there on the beach to welcome the wakas coming in. We got there by bus. The bus was so fast, like an airplane. It was a little windy, a bit cloudy and the sun shone brightly in the sky.

There were two wakas and one was already parked and one cam in. One of the wakas colour was white and the other one was brown. One of the wakas was big and the other one was a little bit small.

Image result for wakasWe sang three songs for welcoming our visitors. One of the songs was “He Honore”. It was a song for our karakia. We also sang “Nga Waka”, this song was written about all the wakas and the last song was called “Haka”. Two leaders were chosen from every school to lead the awesome movements. St.Patrick’s School and the other 10 schools sang the songs.

The 11 schools that went there were St.Patrick’s School, Stonefield, Summerville, Tamaki College, Tamaki Primary, Pt. England, Glen Innes, Panmure Bridge, St. Pius, Glenbrae School and Ruapotaka. We all welcomed our new visitors.

When the wakas came in they had a big horn for everybody to hear loudly. The trumpet was loud, it was like a loud fast train. After that, we sang a song and we weren't that loud.

The schools sang properly and the people from Hawaii were so friendly. I wanted to be one of the people in the wakas because I want to see and travel around the world.
